Guitarist / Singer / Songwriter / Author Winston Gay is truly in a class by himself. With a three and a half octave vocal range, his silky smooth voice is almost as flexible as the different sounds that he emulates with his amazing guitar synthesizer. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Winston's creativity on the electric guitar soon attracted many local groups who were eager to utilize his ability to blend his unique interpretations with their own music. A protégé' of Kenny Gamble / Leon Huff's 'Sound of Philadelphia', Winston's charismatic performances with a local pop-jazz-fusion group called 'The Glass Menagerie', led him to tour or play behind many recording artists including: The Flamingo's 75, Maceo Parker, ( from the James Brown show) The Stylistics, Harold Melvin and The Blues Notes, The Original Soultrain Dancers, Dexter Wansel, Jean Carn, Bunny Siegler, The Tymes, Eddie Holman, Mc Fadden & Whitehead, Garnet Mims, The Delphonics, The Philly Intruders, and almost countless others. From 1977 to 1986, Winston moved to Los Angeles California where he assisted the rehearsals of Bobby and Tommy De'Barge, ('Switch') Howard Hewitt, Jodie Watley, ('Shalamar'), Leon Sylvers, 'Wolfman' Jack ( The Midnight Special ) as well as composing and producing two television show themes ('Mario the Toymaker' and 'The Good Life'.) He has co-written 'Count On Me' for the Ritchie family album 'I'll Do My Best', recorded in Kenny Rogers 'Lionshare' Studios, Motown's 'Hitwest' Studio, the late Marvin Gaye's Sunset Boulevard recording studio, and the famous Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. In addition to his work in secular music, Winston has given his talents and fine-tuned the music for many Christian ministries from coast to coast. Today,
he is still one of the most sought after musicians on the scene, with
a brand new sound. Winston's evolution into a one man band, author (The
Monster Musician's Manual, The Monster Songwriter's Manual, The Monster
Vocalist) and educator, is the culmination of 45 years of experience and
the ongoing desire to reach a new generation of listeners with his orignal
music.
